Given how increasingly South African rugby professionals are scattered far and wide on the planet, it is so easy to forget certain names when they bid adieu to the domestic scene.

Just one such case, arguably, is Stephan Lewies, the yeoman former Sharks - and more fleetingly also Lions - lock grafter.

On Monday, the 28-year-old had the first-time honour of leading prestigious London club Harlequins onto the park, and then excelling personally, for their away clash in the English Premiership against Gloucester at Kingsholm.
