South Africa have claimed the honours on 26 occasions, with England winning 16 times and two matches ending in a draw. The sides have each won 11 Tests (plus one draw) playing on England's home turf, Twickenham… so the signs are good for a fine evening of rugby for fans, but especially South African fans.

Our referee for tonight is Angus Gardner of Australia, and he will be assisted by Andrew Brace of Ireland and Pierre Brousset of France. Ben Whitehouse of Wales is our TMO.

South Africa have gone through a rough time of late, losing to Ireland 19-16 at the start of November, before being taken down 30-26 by France in a thrilling encounter. They found their form again last week with a 63-21 trouncing of Italy which sets them up perfectly for tonight's clash.
0'
England comes into this clash on the back of some excellent results at home. They lost a squeaker 29-30 against Argentina at the start of November, followed by a 52-13 mauling of Japan and a 25-25 draw with New Zealand.

Welcome to historic Twickenham in London, England, where England host South Africa in an end-of-season friendly… although there's far too much history of fierce competition between the sides for tonight to be friendly on this famous pitch.
1'
Kick-off! We're underway with the 45th Test match between these two mighty rugby nations!
2'
A hoist over the top by the Boks into the England half but Steward fluffs the catch and the Boks have the put-in for a scrum just ahead of the England 10-yard line.
4'
England penalised twice in the scrum and now the Boks are gong to take the kick for poles… but Faf didn't get enough draw on his kid and it slides to the left of the poles.
7'
England with a good run down the line, the Springboks hold them but them Faf grabs an intercept… but the referee blows for off-side… and that's in a very kickable position right in front of poles and not far from the Boks' 22.
8'
UNBELIEVABLE! England skipper Owen Farrell has pulled his kick and the score stays at 0-0. Massive lucky break for the Boks.
10'
The ref calls for a water break as Sinclair receives some medial attention following a scrum.
11'
England with the scrum but the Boks are penalised again and Farrell will have another crack at goal, just to the right of the poles and about 10 metres from the Boks 10-metre line…
13'
PENALTY, ENGLAND, FARRELL! 3-0. The kick slides through the poles without a problem this time.
15'
Boks with the scrum close to the England 22…
16'
Lovely kick towards the corner by De Klerk and the Boks force a lineout inside the 22…
17'
Roos picks up and drvies from the back of the scrum but he's tackled around the neck and the Boks have an easy penalty kick inside the 22…
18'
PENALTY, SOUTH AFRICA, DE KLERK! 3-3; De Klerk nails it to level the score.
20'
Some great backline play by England to both wings but the Boks have conceded another penalty, this one inside the 10-metre and just to the right of the poles…
21'
… but Farrell has pulled this. You wouldn't find an easier kick for the right footer, but there is a constant drizzle which can be off-putting for any kicker. Another lucky break for the Boks.
23'
South Africa driving England back into their 22 and England concede the penalty… and the Boks kick it into the corner. It's try-time, people!
24'
The Boks win the ball and maul in front of the poles, De Klerk breaks to the right but the loop pass is intercepted… but the ref calls them back for a penalty to the Boks and warns Farrell that someone could head to the bin if they continue to infringe the way they have been.
25'
Boks kick for a lineout, take it short and Kolisi drives through and over the line but he's held up and doesn't release the ball, and England get the relief of the dropout from their goalline.
27'
… but England clear and win the throw thanks to a Bok hand deflects the ball into touch.
27'
Boks with the scrum on the England 10-metre but the hosts get a penalty to clear the danger. The kick isn't out and the Boks counter all the way to the England 5-metre line…
29'
The Boks are running at the England line, first right then left…
31'
DROP-GOAL, SOUTH AFRICA, WILLEMSE! 3-6; The ball is passed back to the Bok No 10 who slots a drop-goal beautifully.
32'
TRY, SOUTH AFRICA, ARENDSE! 3-11; straight from the kick-off the Boks run at England, and the ball is released to Arendse on the right win and he bursts through all the way for a beautiful try. Magnificent response. De Klerk pulls his conversion attempt from the right corner, but a nice sudden lead for the Boks.
34'
Another great break from the kick-off, Willemse running well and then releasing Arendse, whose grubber was intercepted but knocked on by England. Scrum South Africa.
36'
Boks running the ball well, England very much on the back foot, and they are blown for another high tackle and it's a penalty which De Klerk kicks into touch for a 5-metre lineout.
38'
England break the line early and the Boks have a penalty 5-metres and almost in front of posts. De Klerk is going for poles. The ref has given the English side a general warning that someone will head to the sin bin if they keep infringing.
39'
PENALTY, SOUTH AFRICA, DE KLERK! 3-14; De Klerk curls it high and handsome through the poles.
40'
HALF-TIME, ENGLAND 3-11 SOUTH AFRICA. After a somewhat bright start by England it's been all South Africa on attack. The kicking for poles by each sides hasn't been memorable, but the slippery conditions are most likely the cause of that. As for open play, it's been all about the Boks, with the pack showing they have the muscle to overpower England, while the backline have also been highly impressive. England look like a team wearing the wrong pairs of shoes. You can never write England off, especially if their pack can connect well, so while it looks like the Boks are starting to run away with things, the half-time break will give both sides a chance to reset… so we should be in for a power-packed second half, coming up in just a few minutes.
41'
Kick-off! We're underway with the second half here at Twickenham!
42'
A scuffle broke out right after the drop-kick and the referee has laid down the law to both captain: no more handbags on the pitch tonight gentlemen!
42'
DROP-GOAL, SOUTH AFRICA, WILLEMSE! 3-17; Boks with possession from the kick-off, De Klerk passes back to Willemse from a maul just short of the 22, and the No 10 slots a perfect drop-kicking high and handsome through the posts.
44'
England now with a busting run through to the Boks' 22 and just short of the tryline before the ref blows for offside and England has a very kickable penalty.
46'
PENALTY, ENGLAND, FARRELL! 6-11; The England skipper doesn't miss his time from right in front of the posts on the Boks' 22.
47'
England awarded a penalty on their 22, but an England forward hurls De Klerk out of the ruck after the whistle had blown… and the ref reverses the penalty.
48'
YELLOW CARD, ENGLAND, CURRY
50'
TRY, SOUTH AFRICA, ETZBETH! 6-22; The Boks make their man advantage count and run from the lineout, maul in front of the posts, and Etzebeth goes over under the posts.
52'
CONVERSION, SOUTH AFRICA, DE KLERK! 6-24; De Klerk makes no mistake from right under the posts.
54'
England with the scrum jus inside the Bok half… they break well down the left but the ref calls them back for a knock on included by De Klerk pressuring Vunipola as he broke from the back of the scrum.
56'
England penalised on the halfway line and De Klerk is lining up a kick …
57'
PENALTY, SOUTH AFRICA, DE KLERK! 6-27; De Klerk slides his kick through the posts beautifully.
59'
Curry has done his time in the sin bin and it's back to 15v15, and not a moment too soon for England who are trailing by 21 points with just half an hour to play.
60'
Super break down the right again by Arendse but the England defence stands firm to bring him down. Great work by the Boks.
61'
RED CARD, SOUTH AFRICA DU TOIT. Ref is checking a nasty tackle by Thomas du Toit, who came into a maul and bashed into an England player's head… he has just come on as a replacement and now he's off for the rest of the match.
63'
Boks with the scrum on their 5-metre line, they break from the back but don't release and England have the penalty, which they kick for a 5-metre lineout.
64'
England win the ball and push on the to the Bok line… its a scramble on the tryline… England run the line but the Bok defence is superb.
66'
England penalised in the loose maul and the 14-men from South Africa are holding their line. They kick to their 10-metre for a lineout.
66'
Another England 5-metre lineout, but Kolisi wins it and the Boks pass wide to Arendse who runs it and SA advance to the halfway line… England win ball back and push to the Bok 22…
68'
Boks scrum on their 10-metre line and the clock is running down fast on England. What a superb performance from the Boks.
69'
Boks run the line, a kick goes to the wing to Arendse but England gain possession… but the ref calls play back for a penalty for an infringement in the scrum.
71'
TRY, ENGLAND, SLADE! 11-27; De Klerk slips and England win the ball, kick to the right wing, Nowell powers down the right win then bring the ball inside… England win a penalty near the left wing, take it quick and power through to the tryline where Slade powers over for a try.
72'
Kolisi is off injured and he is replaced by Roos.
72'
CONVERSION, ENGLAND, FARRELL! 13-27; Farrell slots the conversion from about 10-metres to the right of the poles. De Klerk is receiving treatment to his ankle and he's being driven off the field by the medical buggy.
74'
England running the ball from inside their 22 but the Boks are up high on them and force the knock-on. The Boks have ruled this match from start to finish.
75'
The Boks go to the short side from the scrum, Willemse receiving the ball and letting a grubber through but it's too deep.
75'
Hendrikse is on in place of De Klerk.
78'
England win a penalty on their 5-metre line and Farrell kicks deep for a lineout near the 10-metre line, another penalty and he kicks now to the Bok 22… but it's another England error in the lineout and the Boks have possession… and there's not going to be time for England to score twice now.
79'
Bok scrum but the referee calls England to order and the scrum has to be retaken… 40 seconds of open play left…
80'
England have the scrum, they run the ball, the clock has hit red… but they infringe and now it's a Bok penalty on the England 22… Libbok kicks it into touch and the referee blows for full time!
