Rassie Erasmus has a slight problem on his hands - a wealth of talent sitting relatively idle in Japan without competitive action.

The Springbok director of rugby as well as head coach Jacques Nienaber have crossed everything from toes to fingers hoping not to lose any more of the World Cup-winning stars to injury ahead of next year's British and Irish Lions tour.

The injury curse claimed Warrick Gelant's season to an ACL injury, as well as Handre Pollard (knee), RG Snyman (knee), Eben Etzebeth (rib) and Lood de Jager (shoulder) to various other ailments.
