Robert du Preez to the unwanted fore, post-lockdown blues afflicted several big-name South African players as their Sale Sharks team suffered a stinging setback to Harlequins in the English Premiership's long-awaited resumption on Friday night.

The visitors to The Stoop, in the shadow of Twickenham, were eyeing a big win against their mid-table hosts to potentially seize - even if only very temporarily - the lead from Exeter Chiefs at the top of the table.

Instead they had to be content with merely a late-earned, losing bonus point as Quins earned a deserved 16-10 victory in a contest that was anything but an oil painting.
