Throwback Thursday: Piet van Zyl

accreditation

Cape Town - When the Springboks take on the All Blacks at home, rugby can become more than just a game for South Africans.

And so it was proved in August 2002, when a certain Piet van Zyl disgraced a nation.

The All Blacks won the Tri-Nations clash at King's Park 30-23, but not before a furious Van Zyl had stormed onto the pitch in an attempt to show referee Dave McHugh just what he thought of him.

The result was a terribly timed tackle from the crazed spectator and, more importantly, a moment that would make international headlines for all of the wrong reasons.
