Cape Town - Last month, Brendan Venter was heading up the South African rugby coaching Indaba in Cape Town.

The purpose of that two-day meeting, which included top coaches, administrators and referees from around the country, was to discuss coaching methods and techniques that would ultimately benefit the Springboks.

Soon after facilitating those discussions, Venter was off to Italy and he will now be helping them prepare for the Boks in Florence on Saturday.

Venter, who was capped 17 times by the Springboks between 1994 and 1999, has been appointed as a technical adviser for the Italians for their end-of-year Tests.

Venter comes with a wealth of experience, having previously coaches at Saracens and the Sharks.

He is also the current technical director at London Irish in England.

Despite having a woeful 2016 so far, the Boks are overwhelming favourites to beat Italy on Saturday.

Still, the fact that Venter, who has worked closely with Coetzee very recently, is now in the opposition camp may be of some concern.
