It’s funny how it wasn’t Damian Willemse’s magic feet that moved every rugby follower to rediscover their awe, but his measured midfield play and monster tackling and work rate.

On Saturday, against the visiting Welsh, Willemse won’t be at inside centre for the Springboks like he was during the latter part of the United Rugby Championship for the Stormers.

But he will start in a familiar No 15 jersey, one in which the same attributes that led him to a spectacular return to prominence as a No 12, needs to be visible at fullback come 17:05 kick-off.
