Durban - The Sharks on Thursday announced the signing of talented wing/centre Wandile Mjekevu on a two-year deal effective from July 2015.

After having spent time with the Lions and Sharks, the former junior Springbok joined French Top 14 club Perpignan in 2013. He gained some valuable experience at the club and got the opportunity to further develop his game.

Commenting on Mjekevu's signing, Sharks Director of Rugby Gary Gold stated: "We are delighted that Wandile has decided to return to the Sharks. He had a great stint in France and he is an unbelievable prospect. His strength and agility around the park will most certainly bolster our backline and we look forward to him progressing at the franchise."

Mjekevu, 24, commented: "I am thrilled to be back in Durban. I'm looking forward to being a part of and contributing within the new and exciting set-up at the Sharks."

His agent Gavin Jones from Union Sports added: "I am happy that Wandile is back at the Sharks. After a successful few years in France, he will fit into the set-up perfectly and has a lot to offer both on and off the field. After having many options he found it easy to choose the Sharks to be his new home."
