Kobus Wiese (Gallo)
Kobus Wiese (Gallo)

One of the punchiest in a long time … that was my take straight afterwards on Monday night’s edition of well-established Afrikaans rugby chat show SuperRugby.

It probably helped, of course, that it came in the aftermath of one of those “Anglo-Boer War revisited” clashes, the Springboks having been agonisingly pipped 27-26 at the death by England at Twickenham to deny them a tour clean sweep.

Win or lose against the old enemy, you can guarantee the lines will be particularly busy from the SuperSport-watching public to anchor Kobus Wiese and his panel (in this instance co-Boks Breyton Paulse and Werner Swanepoel).
