When Springbok centre Andre Esterhuizen joined English club Harlequins at the end of the interrupted Super Rugby competition, Sharks head coach Sean Everitt told the midfielders at the union that an outside replacement wouldn’t be sourced.

Instead, the Sharks would look within for a player capable enough to fill the 115kg, 190m-sized void Esterhuizen left behind.

Marius Louw, who had been shadowing the inside centre pretty closely, stepped up right away and showed that he was more than capable of upholding the great standards in the No 12 jersey.
