Cape Town - The banter between the Sharks and Lions ahead of their Super Rugby clash in Durban on Saturday has already started ... on Twitter!
A series of comical Twitter exchanges between the two South African franchises took place on Thursday, and it all started with a bit of confusion over the future of Lions centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg.
The Lions announced on Wednesday that Janse van Rensburg had signed a deal to join the Sale Sharks at the end of the season, but it seems that someone erred on the Lions website by saying that he was joining the "Cell C Sharks".
The Sharks then took to Twitter to confirm that Janse van Rensburg was, in fact, not heading to Durban, but rather to Sale.
The Lions then tried to correct the Sharks, but clearly misinterpreted what the Durbanites were trying to say.
It even went as far as the Lions pointing out that Janse van Rensburg had not 'chosen' the Sharks, before the Sharks pointed out to the Lions that 'breakups were hard'.
The sides meet at 17:15 on Saturday.
Although we think he is an awesome player, @LionsRugbyCo centre Rohan Janse Van Rensburg will not be joining #OurSharks squad, but is rather going to the @SaleSharksRugby for their next season. #FakeNews pic.twitter.com/KBf9fEsmw2— The Sharks (@TheSharksZA) June 28, 2018
