One of the ironies of the Lions' Covid-riddled Super Rugby Unlocked campaign is that it already ended last week with the postponement (for now) of the match against the Pumas.
As a result, things have been distinctly stop-start for the men from Ellis Park, with results not fundamentally improving since the dark days of the cancelled Super Rugby season.
However, that belies the fact that Ivan van Rooyen's charges provided enough evidence to suggest that they are actually in far better shape than their final log position will show.
