There are more naturally ebullient characters in South African rugby punditry, perhaps.

But if being knowledgeable, well-prepared and notably articulate represent more than half of the attributes required for the task, then Robbie Kempson is an asset to SuperSport chat shows.

The 47-year-old Springbok prop from Queenstown confirmed as much earlier this week, I thought, when he took part as a guest in “The Final Whistle” - temporarily anchored by Joel Stransky in the absence of regular Owen Nkumane - following the latest completed round of domestic preparations series matches.
