Fears are mounting the application to render Newlands Rugby Stadium a provincial heritage site "will kill" rugby in the province and scupper championship team the Stormers' future.

The application came days before the SA Rugby-appointed administrator to the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU), Rian Oberholzer, finalised a winning bid to sell the stadium.
