Following the postponment of the South African leg of the United Rugby Championship this weekend due to the Omicron Covid-19 variant, Munster are still in Cape Town looking to get a flight out of South Africa.

According to a social media update, one of their contingent has tested positive for Covid-19, although which variant is not clear.

In a travel update on Twitter on Sunday, Munster confirmed the news while they "wait on next steps from the health authorities."

"Munster Rugby will remain in Cape Town while we wait on next steps from the health authorities after returning one positive case in our latest testing," said a tweet on the club's official account.

"Thanks for all the messages of support and best wishes," it added.

Round six and seven fixtures which would have seen Munster, Cardiff, Zebre and Scarlets play against South African opposition were postponed on Friday.

"The safety and well-being of our participating clubs' players, coaches, support staff and match officials is the foremost priority and the URC is currently working with the four visiting clubs - Cardiff Rugby, Munster Rugby, Scarlets and Zebre Parma - to facilitate their return as soon as possible," a statement from URC read at the time of the postponements.
