Cape Town - Former Springbok flyhalf Butch James woke up with a ‘hangover’ on Sunday... but it was not alcohol induced.

James was shocked following the Springboks’ 34-32 Rugby World Cup defeat to Japan the previous day.

“I’ve woken up with a bit of a hangover this morning and I didn’t even drink last night... and I’ve got a bit of a sore heart as well. I’m still battling to get over yesterday’s game,” James said via a video clip posted on his Twitter page.

According to James, Pool B is now wide open with the Springboks still to play Samoa, Scotland and the USA.

“I think any one of the five teams can go on to the quarters. It’s going to be a tough road for all of the teams. I think they’re all going to have tough games all the way through.

“South Africa have to pick themselves up this week, they’ve got a strong Samoan team to face on the weekend. So no time for them to cry over spilled milk. They’ve got to get back on the horse and get going on Monday.”

James, 36, played 42 Tests for the Boks between 2001 and 2011.

He was a World Cup winner in 2007.
