Cape Town - Chippa United midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni believes that his experiences with South Africa will still be of considerable value, despite him not getting any game-time during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana Bafana played Group C matches against Algeria, Ghana and Senegal, and Sangweni could only watch on from the bench as his team got eliminated from the competition at the group stages.

However, he still feels that all the lessons learned in Equatorial Guinea will be useful as he tries to re-ignite his club’s Premiership campaign later this month.

"I learned many things from the camp even though I didn’t play," said Sangweni.

"The national team call up came as a surprise to me but my inclusion to the final 23-member squad will also help."

Sangweni also thinks that he owes it to Chippa to produce more competent performances in 2015, as he feels that the opportunities he got with the club helped pave the way for his selection to the national team.

"Chippa United is the reason I’m part of the Bafana Squad," said Sangweni, who has made 15 starting appearances and breached opposition defences twice this season.
