Cape Town - The South African Football Federation (SAFA) has announced that the long running saga of finding a coach for Bafana Bafana will soon be at an end.

After Shakes Mashaba was sacked as national coach in December 2016, SAFA have looked for a suitable replacement with many names doing the rounds.

These included former Bafana coaches, Carlos Queiroz and Stuart Baxter as well as Hervé Renard and Hugo Broos.

In a statement on the their website on Wednesday evening, the national body confirmed that an agreement had been reached with a candidate and that an announcement would be made within the next 24 to 48 hours, pending certain legal arrangements.

Following a thorough, but lengthy process of seeking a replacement Head Coach for the Men’s Senior National Team, Bafana Bafana, the Association is pleased to announce that it has finalised an agreement with the successful candidate and is in the process of formalising the legal arrangements by exchanging signatures today.

We are mindful that the South African public has been waiting with bated breath for this matter to be concluded and we can report that we will make a formal and more detailed announcement to this effect in the next 24 to 48 hours.
