Cape Town - Former Bafana Bafana star Delron Buckley believes that Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E clash against Libya is not about the quality of the performance but hinges upon the result.

Buckley, who scored 10 goals in 72 appearances for Bafana between 1998 and 2012, takes the view that collecting all three points is crucial even if the display is not convincing.

The national team started their campaign in bright fashion as they defeated Nigeria (2-0), whereas the Mediterranean Knights thrashed Seychelles.

The clash will be the first between the two teams since South Africa's readmission into international football in 1992.

Speaking to KickOff website, Buckley said: "It's a home game in Durban, so we should win the game. I'm sure Baxter will select a good-quality team because he's obviously looking for a win.

"But for me, it doesn't matter how they play, they must just win. I'd rather we play nonsense and win, than play good football and lose, because that's what we want, we want to win, we don't care how they do it.

"And when you win, you have the nation behind you, the players feel good, and it breeds a winning mentality, until that becomes automatic."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
