Cape Town - Ronald Koeman has revealed he wants to sign "three or four more players" and has no intention of selling striker Romelu Lukaku.

Speaking ahead of his side's Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, the former Southampton boss told the club's website: "I don't comment on rumours. We have discussions with the board and with [Director of Football] Steve Walsh, and we want three or four more players.

"Romelu Lukaku is still an Everton player and we want to keep our best players."

The 23-year-old striker, who bagged 18 league goals last season, has been linked with a return to Chelsea, having spent three seasons in London with the Blues following a loan spell with West Brom.

The new Toffees boss also moved to end the speculation surrounding Phil Jagielka's future at the club.

"Phil Jagielka is the captain of the team. We don't have too many centre-backs. We need four so there is no way he can leave the club," he added.

Koeman is reportedly targeting Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie and Sunderland centre-back Lamine Kone, along with at least two more unnamed targets, but refused to be drawn on how far away those deals are from materialising.

He explained: "I don't talk about rumours, players who are still in contracts with other teams

"I speak about players who have signed a contract to Everton and when everything is done but not about rumours. I don't like that from other managers and I don't do that."

Koeman concluded by saying that he sees no future at the club for striker Oumar Niasse.

"I don’t know the state of the interest in Oumar at the moment. He is not, in my opinion, the future of what we need in that position. I hope the best for the boy."
