Mata: Mourning is useless now

Cape Town - Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has called on his team-mates for a quick response following their defeat to Sunderland.

The Red Devils fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Sam Allardyce's Black Cats at the Stadium of Light as David De Gea failed to keep out a late Lamine Kone header.

United now face a busy week as they return to Europa League action on Thursday before a fifth-round FA Cup tie at the weekend and Mata wants United to get back on track.

"The only way to get to a better position is by working hard for the next game," he wrote in his blog.

"There is no other way. Mourning is useless now; besides, there are still many games to play and many things can happen this season.

"I understand and share your [the fans'] frustration, but once again the way to overcome the defeats and the complicated moments is, in my opinion, by standing united, working hard and never giving up."
