Cape Town - Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino insists he will not sacrifice their Europa League chances in favour of the Premier League.

Spurs progressed to the round of 16 last night after running out 3-0 winners against Fiorentina at White Hart Lane, to take the two-legged tie 4-1 on aggregate.

Pochettino's side currently sit second in the domestic table, level on points with third-placed Arsenal and only two points behind leaders Leicester.

Despite eyeing a first league title in the Premier League era, the manager is adamant he will not prioritise it over the European competition.

"It's true that maybe for the supporters the Premier League is more important but we need to show we respect both competitions. I think we have enough quality and a big enough squad that we can do both," he told Sky Sports.

"Why prioritise one of them? We have ahead three important games in the Premier League, and then we will think about the next round of the Europa League.

"I think that we have to try to be competitive in every competition. We are happy in the way that we are and now I think we need to put all our energy into recovering our players and to feeling good for the next game."

Tottenham host Swansea City on Sunday, looking for their sixth consecutive Premier League win.
