Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has confirmed that Bongani Zungu will not form part of the squad for the Europa League clash against Royal Antwerp as he had breached Covid-19 protocols.
According to Kick Off, Zungu was one of five players dropped from the squad as they self-isolate following the breach.
Speaking to Rangers TV, Gerrard confirmed that the players would be dealt with by the club.
"First and foremost we have to acknowledge that five of our players have been involved in a breach of the Covid regulations, which, from the top of the club to the bottom, we're all really disappointed in," said Gerrard.
"That will be dealt with internally, the players will be fined and we are in dialogue with the SFA (Scottish Football Association) and the Government moving forward to find the solution in terms of those boys," he added.
Gerrard said that Zungu, along with Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear were the players involved in the breach.
"Bongani Zungu is involved, Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey, Dapo [Mebude] who is part of the academy and is on loan at Queen of the South at the moment, and a young goalie who is in the academy but has spent some time in the first team at the moment, Brian Kinnear."
It's not yet clear what the players did to breach regulations but they could face a match bans because of their actions as happened earlier in the season with other players.
Zungu has played 16 times for Rangers this season but only started on three occasions.
