PSG blast Cavani red

Cape Town - PSG president Nasser Al Khelafi has slammed the decision to send off Edinson Cavani in Friday night's 3-1 victory over Lens.

The Uruguay international was left dumbstruck after he was yellow carded for his trademark celebration, which involves dropping to one knee, aiming an imaginary gun and firing into the crowd.

And, when he tried to remonstrate with match official Nicolas Rainville by touching his arm, the referee responded by sending him off, something which irked Al Khelafi.

He told Canal Plus television: "Why did he get the yellow card before? He always celebrates the same way."

Meanwhile, PSG coach Laurent Blanc refused to be drawn into any discussion, saying: "I'm not going to make any comment about the refereeing. It's a difficult game to analyse."
