Gomes blows his whistle and the game is underway in windy Cape Town. Cape Town City go on the front foot early on.
Cape Town City have been looking to cause problems for Chippa in wide areas. Mayambela gives the ball to Norodien, who forces Mothwa into a good save.
Cape Town City go short from the ensuing corner on their left and then get the ball into the box. As the clearing header comes in from Modisane, the flag goes up for offside.
Roberts gives the ball to Ralani, who looks to play the return pass in behind, but Modisane is alert to the danger and intercepts.
Chippa go for the ball over the top to Kwem, but Stephens is well-positioned to gather that.
Chippa United have committed a couple of fouls in quick succession. They need to be a little bit careful there. However, Cape Town City are not in control as much as they were in the opening few minutes.
Norodien goes down looking for a foul, but Gomes is having none of it. He gives the Cape Town City man a stern talking to, but opts not to book him for a dive.
Mayambela goes for goal from long range with his left foot on the turn. Good strike, but Mothwa gets behind it and saves.
Mokeke playes the ball over the top, but the linesman says Ralani is offside.
GOAL, CHIPPA, KWEM! 0-1: Twala plays the ball to Rakhale, who could go for goal, but instead gives it to Kwem. A brilliant shot on the turn from him sees Chippa take the lead, largely against the run of play!
Fielies meets a cross in from the right at the far post, but he fails to get himself over the ball and he heads well off target.
Maziya cuts inside from the left and shoots, but perhaps that's the wrong option. He fails to curl it inside the far post. Maybe he should have passed.
Edmilson's lunge on Maphangule sees him go into the book. Yellow card.
Malepe goes directly for goal from the free-kick out wide, but it's speculative shot that goes off target.
Chippa hit Cape Town City on the break. The long ball from deep is flicked on to Kwem. Fielies looks to push him out wide, so he shoots, forcing Stephens to save at the near post. He does so unconvincingly, diverting the ball behind.
Norodien's cross from the right is deflected behind for a corner by Moyo. Chippa have defended well so far. From the corner, they don't do the greatest job, but Mkhize puts the ball wide of goal.
Roberts shoots from long range on the turn, but he fires well off target. It's been a frustrating half for Cape Town City, who are perhaps missing the magic of Kermit Erasmus.
Chippa attack down their left with Maziya teeing up Malepe, but Fielies makes a great block on the latter's shot.
The spell of Chippa pressure ends with Modisane going for goal from long range and firing off target.
Chippa look to hit City on the break again, but Fielies takes the ball off Kwem before he can shoot.

HALF-TIME: CAPE TOWN CITY 0-1 CHIPPA UNITED. The Chilli Boys go into the break in front due to Kwem's opener. Norman Mapeza appears to be delivering another masterclass, but all is left to play for.
CROSSBAR! Chippa come so close to doubling their advantage just before the break as Maziya hits the woodwork with a strike from the edge of the box.
Ralani picks up a yellow card for fouling Twala from behind, cutting off the Chippa break. Two minutes of stoppage time are added on at the end of the half.
KICK-OFF! The second half is underway at Athlone Stadium. Chris David and Fagrie Lakay are on for Cape Town City. Jan Olde Riekerink has gone for broke. Ralani and Norodien have made way.
Stephens has to scramble back to prevent the ball from looping up into his net after Kwem and Dove tussle for it. In any case, Cape Town City are awarded a free-kick.
Cape Town City are probing for a way through the defence, but Chippa are tough to break down.
Nodada goes for goal from distance, but he misses the target.
David looks to play Roberts in behind, but he's caught offside.
Mokeke goes for goal from a long way out. The initial shot is blocked, but the second one goes just over the crossbar. Not a bad strike, but City need to trouble the goalkeeper.
Rakhale looks to break free of the defence, but his touch is too heavy and he gives the ball away to Stephens.
Nodada receives the ball from Roberts just outside the box. He turns and shoots, but it's straight at Mothwa, who makes a comfortable save.
Now, it's Mayambela, the former Chippa player, who goes for goal. He has a crack from just outside the box, but skies his effort.
Cape Town City are struggling to break down a resilient Chippa United defence. They're getting back in numbers and it's also worth bearing in mind that they're a dangerous team on the counter.
Kwem avoids the tackle of Seedat with a great piece of skill. He then tries a long-range shot, but fires off target.
Chippa fail to get the ball away from danger following the corner. Maphangule fouls Nodada and Cape Town City have a free-kick within shooting range.
Mkhize finds Mayambela, who heads for goal. It deflects behind off Davids. Mayambela wants a penalty for handball. Gomes is not having it.
David goes for goal from the free-kick. That might have taken a deflection on its way through. Either way, Mothwa does well to read it, get behind it, and make the save look easy.
Kwem surges forward again, looking to break free of the defence on the counter, but Dove reads the situation and dispossesses the powerful Nigerian frontman.
Jan Olde Riekerink makes his final substitution of the evening as Craig Martin comes on in place of Fielies. That's clearly an attacking substitution. Fielies does not look happy with the decision judging by his body language.
Cape Town City were about to put in a corner, but for one reason or another, Victor Gomes has taken it away from them and awarded Chippa United a goal-kick.
Mayambela's shot causes trouble for Mothwa. He is deceived by the bounce and has to scramble the ball away. Not the goalkeeper's finest moment of a superb evening.
David goes for goal with his left foot, but Mothwa gets down low and pushes the ball wide of goal. Great save.
Mokeke puts in a tactical foul on Rakhale to halt the Chippa break. Surprisingly, he comes away without a yellow card.
Seedat picks up a yellow card in bizarre fashion. There are two balls on the pitch and he breaks up the play involving one ball by kicking the other at it. Victor Gomes of all people was never going to let that go!
David puts a free-kick in from Cape Town City's left, but it's headed away and cleared into touch by Chippa United. Let alone, there are two balls on the field. Victor Gomes isn't happy.
Komane comes on in place of goalscorer Kwem for Chippa United. This is a defensive substitution from Norman Mapeza. Kwem deserves credit for a superb performance.
CHANCE! Rakhale gets on the end of a cross from Chippa's left, but he misses from close range! Perhaps he was expecting Dove to clear and wasn't prepared to receive the ball.
FULL-TIME: CAPE TOWN CITY 0-1 CHIPPA UNITED. Jubilation all around as Chippa pull off an upset away from home. They're out of the relegation zone and up to 10th! Cape Town City drop to 13th and are in serious trouble.
