Cape Town - The University of Pretoria successfully booked their place in the Round of 16 with a comfortable 5-0 win over Polokwane City Rovers in the Nedbank Cup at Tuks Stadium on Saturday.
Shaun Bartlett's men were wary of the threat posed by the lower division club, but were never under any threat as they cruised to a comfortable win over the ABC Motsepe side.
Getaneh Kebede opened the scoring after 11 minutes. Quick thinking by Washington Arubi set Atusaye Nyondo on his bike with the Malawian waiting for support before setting up Kebede who's strike left Sabelo Nkoma rooted to his spot.
Scorer turned proved just past the half-hour mark with Kebede finding Nyondo in the penalty area - the Tuks striker with a cool finish - waiting for Nkoma to commit before chipping the Rovers stopper.
Sibusiso Mthethwa made it 3-0 in the 37th minute with his first goal for the club. The former Free State Stars defender saw his fierce effort canon off the woodwork, hit Nkoma, before nestling in the back of the net.
It went from bad to worse for the Mogwase based side after the break with man-of-the-match Vuyisile Ntombayithethi adding a fourth. Second-half substitute Lennox Bacela opened a pocket of space for his teammate who struck an unstoppable first time shot into the top corner.
Thabo Nemukondeni capped his debut with a goal in the 90th minute as Rovers run in the competition came to an abrupt end.
