Egyptian giants Al Ahly have confirmed their stance on South African mentor Pitso Mosimane ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Mosimane joined the Red Devils last year after an eight-year tenure at Mamelodi Sundowns.
His time at Ahly has seen the head coach already win five major titles with the club: Egypt Cup (2019/20), CAF Champions League (2019/20, 2020/21), CAF Super Cup (2021) and the Egyptian Premier League (2019/20).
Mosimane did, however, fall short in the chase for the 2020/21 league honours as rivals Zamalek clinched bragging rights. Fans were not happy, and questions arose whether Mosimane was the right coach for the club.
But Al Ahly have released a statement backing Mosimane, who will see out his contract without any increase, as the 2021/22 Egyptian Premier League will kick-off at the end of October.
"Tawfik announced that Mosimane will continue his current contract with the club, which lasts until the end of the 2021/2022 season, without any pay raise," the statement read.
"Tawfik added that Mosimane did not ask for any increase in his salary and that the club wants him to stay because Al Ahly is convinced with his ability to fulfil the goals and expectations of Al Ahly fans.
"Additionally, Mosimane expressed his happiness to work at Al Ahly and stated that he wants to continue his mission with the African Club of the Century.
"Finally, Tawfik concluded by saying that the discussions went in a friendly way about the team's future and that both parties agreed on settling all the matters by the end of the current contract."
Mosimane will be back in the dugout over the weekend as Al Ahly take on USGN in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round first leg.
The kick-off is at 17:30 on Saturday.
