A quite significant reference point in local football has been made after news that South Africa's most decorated head coach, Pitso Mosimane, is set to take charge of Africa's premier and most successful club, Al Ahly.

Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday confirmed the 56-year old's shock departure after seven years of unprecedented success at Chloorkop.

Since his appointment in 2012, Mosimane has led Sundowns to dizzying heights of success, with five league titles - three coming in consecutive triumphs over the last three years - to help clinch the club's 10th league title overall.
