AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy was happy to see his charges claim an all-important win against SuperSport United on Tuesday.

The victory ensured that Usuthu keep up the pace with the rest of the top four chasing sides as they hold on firmly to sixth place on the league table.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, McCarthy revealed that his game plan worked despite Matsatsansta continuing to apply the pressure.

“I was a little bit disappointed with the first match that we threw three points away because the way we played we didn’t deserve to draw as they got a penalty towards the end.

“Today, same tactics and we outplayed them. We were always in control of the game. We knew if we controlled the midfield, we going to open up Memela and get into the little pockets behind their midfield.

“Of course, they were going to have moments where they were going to come at us, they are SuperSport and are not number two for no reason. They are a quality team, good players and their tactics that they played is not to everyone’s liking but it's effective and it works for them.”

In his closing comments, McCarthy said: “I just like to thank my players as well, for the effort that they put in, so well done boys and I’m not mad.”

AmaZulu are back in action next week Wednesday against Chippa United.
