Bloemfontein Celtic got their first win of the DStv Premiership season courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Black Leopards at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Wednesday.
Phunya Sele Sele went into the encounter having only registered one point from their four encounters this campaign but Ndumiso Mabena scored the only goal of the game early in the second half to make sure his team took all three points this time around.
The home team controlled most of the game and really should have won by a more comfortable margin.
In the first half alone, Celtic forward Tebogo Potsane had three gilt-edged opportunities to give his team the lead.
The striker was twice denied by King Ndlovu but it was really poor composure in front of goal by Potsane, who also hit another shot wide when he was clean through.
Early in the second half though Potsane turned provider as he teed up Mabena with a beautiful square ball and the veteran striker had no problem finding the back of the net.
Leopards were no threat going forward throughout the match and Sepana Letsoalo should have doubled Siwelele's lead after 67 minutes.
After a neat passage of play, Mabena found space close to the penalty and sprayed the ball to right to the oncoming Sepana Letsoalo, who shot wide from a tight angle.
There weren't any more real goal-scoring opportunities as the match drifted towards the full-time whistle.
The win moves Celtic up to 14th, above Leopards, on the PSL table.
