Striker Bradley Grobler became SuperSport United's all-time top goalscorer with 58 goals after netting in a hard-fought 2-1 Premiership win over Bloemfontein Celtic at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.
Grobler scored what proved to be the winner in the 46th minute after Bloem Celtic cancelled out Thamsanqa Gabuza's opener.
"It's an unbelievable feeling," Grobler said post-match. "I think when people mentioned the 57-goal record it seemed so far away at that time when I think I was six goals away.
"Now that I've got it last week and equaled it I thought to myself that this could be the toughest part now to break it and go one more.
"But fortunately enough it happened today and for me as I always say in interviews the club has done a lot for me, they've stuck with me through thick and thin with injuries.
"So this is just my way of repaying the club for the faith they've shown in me, it's a great club and a very prestigious club so I'm honoured to have achieved that."
Head coach Kaitano Tembo also paid tribute to what he called an unbelievable achievement by the striker.
"I'm really proud of him," Tembo told SuperSport TV. I think the past two seasons he's been really unbelievable. I think before I took over he hadn't played more than 15 games for the team because of injuries.
"But I think credit goes to the medical department that has worked hard on him to be able to remain fit. There's no doubting his ability, he's very talented, so intelligent and technically good."
"I'm happy for him to break the record while I'm the coach and I'm really proud of him."
