Cape Town - An embattled Orlando Pirates will be aiming to end their winless run in the Premiership when they host an in-form Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers are in real danger of finishing the season outside the top eight, as they sit in 10th position, three points below Ajax who occupy eighth place with two games left.

Pirates have not won a league game in their last three fixtures, losing at leaders Bidvest Wits before a 2-0 defeat at home against Mamelodi Sundowns and a goalless draw at Bloemfontein Celtic in their last outing.

“I hope that game (against Celtic) gave us confidence for the two games remaining and the cup semifinals on the weekend," said coach Kjell Jonevret, according to Times Live.

"Because against Celtic I thought there were a lot of players who played better than they had for a long time."

Meanwhile, Ajax are hoping to maintain their position in the top half of the standings after putting together an impressive run of results in recent weeks.

The Urban Warriors are on a three-game winning streak which saw them beat Platinum Stars, Chippa United, and Bloemfontein Celtic without conceding a goal.

"It's more of a cup final for them than for us," Ajax coach Stanley Menzo was quoted as saying by Sowetan Live.

"They have to [make the top eight] and we want to, and we will go there and try to save our top eight position. It is up to them to see what they can do."
