Orlando Pirates captain and defender Happy Jele credited his side for the victory over Diables Noirs in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday evening at Orlando Stadium.

The 34-year-old Jele scored the only goal of the match with a header in the 17th minute of the second round second-leg encounter which saw Bucs reach the play-off round after winning the tie 1-0 on aggregate.

In an interview after the match, Jele credited the team for their great effort in securing victory over the former Congolese champions.

"I think it starts from the team, each and everyone delivered today. We wanted to win this game so that we could go to the next round," Jele said.

"So, it is not about me alone, but it is about the team. We did well as a team, we fought, and yeah, we are through to the next round."

The defender added that he felt they started the match off well but feels they should have made the numerous chances they created count.

"I think we started well in the first-half, we created a lot of chances, but we didn't manage to convert them," Jele added.

"And obviously after taking a 1-0 lead, the guys [Diables] wanted to come back and equalise.

"But we managed to cope under pressure. We fought as a team and held on until the end. And we managed to get the win and go through to the next round."
