Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly been linked with a move to loan Ajax Amsterdam outcast Thulani Serero in the January transfer window.

The attacking midfielder has been left out of Ajax's squad for the 2016/17 season, and has not played a single game for the club's first team.

The player was said to be seeking a move away from the side at the start of the campaign, however, his substantial salary package apparently scuppered any deal taking place.

According to a report in iLanga, the Glamour Boys are looking to land the Bafana Bafana star on a six-month loan deal in January.

The publication's source said: "Kaizer Motaung has heard the fans and he wants to loan Serero from Ajax.

"There are several European teams that want him, but Chiefs want him to come back home and take a break before leaving at the end of the season."

The 26-year-old has previously been linked with moves to French Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux and English Championship side Reading, although no deal has as yet materialised.
