Chippa United have bolstered their squad by signing former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni.

The 31-year-old has reunited with the Chilli Boys after spending time at Eswatini giants Mbabane Highlanders.

Sangweni first played for Chippa back in 2014 when Sundowns sent him out on loan. He went on to have multiple loan spells at the Eastern Cape outfit and has now signed a permanent deal.

Meanwhile, Chippa also secured the services of Athini Jodwana two days before the close of the transfer window on 15 February.

"We are proud to announce Athini Jodwana and Thami Sangweni as additions to the Chilli Boys squad for this season," a club statement read.

"Jodwana, left-back/left-winger, returns to the team after a loan spell. Midfielder Sangweni has signed for the Club until the end of the season."
