Cape Town City boss John Comitis wants the return of Ajax Cape Town to the Absa Premiership as he laments the loss of the Cape Derby.
Cape Town City are relative newcomers to the Premier Soccer League after their formation in 2016.
The Urban Warriors have, meanwhile, been competing in the GladAfrica Championship for the past two seasons, in their short time in the same league together, the two clubs built up a healthy rivalry.
Comitis, who formerly ran as Ajax as chief executive and honorary chairperson, told the Daily Sun: "It looks like Ajax will be coming back. They are leading the NFD at the moment.
"In the last Cape Derby, we had 18 000 spectators. It was a record number for local football in Cape Town.
"But we still need to find out about the future of Ajax."
After 23 games, Ajax, under the guise of Andries Ulderink, lead second-placed Swallows FC by five points.
