Cape Town City have exercised the one-year option to renew on former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola's contract.
Pirates released the 34-year-old at the end of last season, and he was quickly snapped up by the Citizens.
He has been a regular inclusion in the starting eleven under both Benni McCarthy and Jan Olde Riekerink, filling the void left by the retired Teko Modise.
City chairman John Comitis confirmed that the club has agreed to extend Makola's contract by another year.
"Mpho is very much in the plans (of the club). He has done consistently well for us and we are waiting to see when we will resume action. We are not in a hurry, we will take it slowly," Comitis told IOL.
