Political party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on Wednesday threatened to take action against Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Chippa United after the controversial appointment of Luc Eymeal as Technical Director.
The Eastern Cape-based outfit announced the appointment of the Belgian tactician on Monday following the sudden sacking of former coach Dan Malesela.
Eymeal came close to being appointed by Chilli Boys owner Siviwe Mpengesi back in December 2020, with his return to South Africa being blocked by SAFA after being accused of racism.
The 61-year-old was accused of racially abusing Tanzanian fans while head coach of Tanzanian Premier League outfit Young Africans. Eymeal was accused of referring to his own club's fans as "monkeys and dogs" after his team's performances came into question.
The EFF's Eastern Cape branch has now demanded that Mpengesi reverse his decision to appoint the controversial coach who previously served spells at Polokwane City (2016/17), Free State Stars (2017/18) and Black Leopards (2019/20).
"The EFF Eastern Cape rejects and condemns the appointment of the racist and arrogant Luc Eymael as its new coach after the sacking of Dan 'Dance' Malesela over the weekend," said a statement.
"We want to reiterate our stance that we will ensure Luc Eymael won't work in our province, he is not welcome and we don't have room for racists in this country.
"If Siviwe Mpengesi knows what's best for his team Chippa United, he will withdraw the appointment of this unrepentant racist from Belgium - a country of King Leopold, who killed black people in Africa."
