Former referee Ace Ncobo believes that the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee should take action against Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

The 33-year-old found himself bringing Maritzburg United striker Judas Moseamedi to the ground after the player netted a goal during Amakhosi's 2-1 victory in an MTN8 quarter final encounter this weekend.

The video clip went viral on social media and Ncobo has now labelled the incident as "violent conduct".

"As soon as the ball is out of play, it's violent conduct. It doesn't matter if you commit it with your small finger, your fist, your head or your foot," the former PSL General Manager told Extra Time on SuperSport.

"Violent conduct is punishable by a suspension whether or not a red-card is shown during the match. That's irrelevant, violent conduct must be punished with a suspension.

"If the referee has missed it on the day. We have a duty as the organising authorities (the PSL) to make sure that an incident like that is referred to the disciplinary committee for the appropriate action to be taken."

The PSL DC has not released a statement on whether action will be taken against the Bafana Bafana international.

Amakhosi are already thin in their keeping department as Daniel Akpeyi experienced passport issues and could not travel to South Africa. Bruce Bvuma was instead named on the substitutes bench last week.

Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys kick-start their Premiership campaign off against rivals and current champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
