Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs' search for cover in the centre-back position looks set to continue as the club have reportedly taken Ghana defender Lee Addy on trial.

Eric Mathoho picked up a long-term injury while on duty for the South Africa Under-23 side at the Rio Olympics, and the club are seemingly looking to add more depth in his position.

Recently, Zimbabwe defender Teenage Hadebe was on trial at Naturena, although it seems he didn't do enough to win a deal with the Steve Komphela-coached outfit.

Chiefs do have the likes of Daniel Cardoso, Siyanda Xulu and Lorenzo Gordinho in central defence, but it appears Komphela is not convinced by either Xulu or Cardoso.

The coach recently paired Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Gordinho at centre-back in a 1-0 loss to Cape Town City even though Mphahlele's best position is widely considered to be at right-back.

Nonetheless, Ghana Soccernet have confirmed that Addy is on trial and will be assessed in the coming days. The 26-year-old was recently on the books of Serbian SuperLiga outfit FK Cukaricki.

Addy is a Ghana international who played twice for his national team at the 2010 World Cup. The player is reportedly on trial on the recommendation of Chiefs' assistant coach, John Paintsil.
