Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele says scoring a goal in Amakhosi’s 2-1 loss to his former club, Mamelodi Sundowns, at the weekend was a very emotional moment.

The goal was Mphahlele’s first in a Chiefs jersey and sent Chiefs fans into frenzy but the defender had his emotions in check as he just walked away instead of celebrating.

"It was an emotional moment to score against the team I used to captain,” Mphahlele said as quoted by Supersport.com.

"I couldn’t even celebrate, because any form of celebration would have been subjected to interpretation either way - especially by the Sundowns supporters, as if I would be mocking them

"While walking through the Loftus Versfeld tunnel I didn’t know what to expect from the home crowd," comments Mphahlele.

"We planned thoroughly for the match. I thought we deserved something out of it. However, we can’t blame anyone, we just have to go on and focus on the preparations for the next match," added Rama.
