SuperSport United head coach Kaitano Tembo on Wednesday said a 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates at the Lucas Moripe Stadium was probably a "fair result" in a game of two halves that left both teams frustrated.

Matsatsanta were completely dominated by the visitors, especially in the first-half, but fought their way back into the contest to salvage a draw.

Vincent Pule gave Pirates the lead in the 10th minute but his goal was cancelled out by a Ben Motshwari own goal as the two sides dropped points in their pursuit of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

"I think it was a game of two halves", Tembo said post-match. "We didn't have a good start and struggled to come out of our defensive blocks in possession because we were very slow.

"Our build-up was very slow so it allowed them to put us under pressure. But in the second-half I think it was a bit better especially when we brought in Teboho Mokoena.

"We came out and played with a bit more purpose because Pirates were dominating the first and second balls a bit in the first period."

Both sides had to settle for a draw with SuperSport holding onto second spot - three points behind Sundowns on 33 points - in the league standings.

With Pirates failing to improve on their fourth position four points behind their opponents.

"I think with a bit more luck we could've won a penalty but overall I think a draw was quite a fair result and reflection of the game," Tembo added.

SuperSport next travel to AmaZulu in a league clash on 2 March.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
