Cape Town - Hlompho Kekana has acknowledged that next season will bring about new challenges for Mamelodi Sundowns, following a number of acquisitions made by their rivals.

Speaking at a media open day, the Bafana Bafana midfielder highlighted that the 2016/17 PSL season would be more competitive , especially with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates bolstering their squads to counter the Brazilians' dominance.

"Its true next season will be tougher just like any other season. But as a team we will be more competitive," he said.

The 31-year-old, who is currently in camp with the Tshwane-based outfit preparing for the CAF Champions League clash with Egyptian giants Zamalek, said that his team would be looking to clinch more silverware this season - having fallen short of a unique treble last season.

"We want to fight for more than one trophy or two but more, including in Africa. We just have to step up and make sure we are well prepared for that," he added.

Egyptian giants Zamalek host Pitso Mosimane's side on Sunday evening at the Petro Sport Stadium.
