Cape Town - AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs had to settle for a share of the spoils after a goalless Premiership draw in torrential rainfall at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Wednesday.

AmaZulu dominated the first half and should have been ahead in the eighth minute when Siyethemba Mnguni fired straight at Khune form 10 yards out after a fine build-up that saw the ball move from back to front and then switched from left to right.

Chiefs' only opening of the half was after 26 minutes when Philani Zulu blazed over after Bernard Parker picked him out 12 yards out.

Two minutes later and Usuthu should have gone ahead when they had two bites at the cherry. First a short corner was played to Michael Morton, who forced Khune to parry, with the rebound somehow kept out on the line from Gumede's shot by the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper - with strong appeals for the goal waved away by the referee.

Then in stoppage time, Teenage Hadebe spared Chiefs' blushes by clearing off the line from Manzini after a horrible Khune misjudgement from a free-kick.

It was goalless at the break and after the restart, AmaZulu's top scorer had a golden chance to put them ahead via the penalty spot, only for Khune to save with his feet when the shot was straight down the middle.

After the hour, Mhlengi Cele fired over with goal at mercy, before Boalefa Pule finally had to make a save after 66 minutes when Philani Zulu's brilliant ball from the left picked out Gustavo Paez, whose header had to be clawed away.

Pule had another big save to make 12 minute from time when he threw himself to his left to tip a Bernard Parker low drive just wide.

With time running out, Gumede received a second yellow card and subsequent red to leave AmaZulu with 10 men for the last two minutes.
