Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela admits Itumeleng Khune did “fairly well” despite conceding two goals against Platinum Stars.

According to KickOff, Stars defeated Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter which saw Khune start for the first time since being injured in January.

"He has been out for quite some time. He comes back after a long time. I thought he did fairly well," Komphela says.

"There is no goalkeeper that I would say did well after conceding two goals but you have to look at the circumstances of how it came about.

"There were stages where he also touched the ball from one of the offensive players and the inspiration he gives to the team as well. But one has to acknowledge the fact that we still have Reyaad Pieterse and Brilliant Khuzwayo at home.

"I think he did fairly well," Komphela adds.

It has come as a surprise that Shakes Mashaba has included the ‘keeper in the Bafana Bafana 25-man squad to take on Cameroon in two AFCON qualifying clashes at the end of the month.
