Cape Town - Platinum Stars striker Ndumiso Mabena revealed that his daring penalty in the 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs was planned.

Mabena scored a brace on Wednesday, with one of the goal being a chip over Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

"You can ask my team-mates, it's what I'm doing at training," Mabena told SuperSport after the game.

"You know, the last time I was gonna play in the Nedbank Cup we were practising penalties and the coach said I mustn't take a penalty. I insisted to take one, and I took it the way I took it today."

Mabena hopes his two goals are a sign of things to come after reclaiming a spot back in the starting team.

"It was a difficult game for me coming from a three-game suspension and coming straight back to the starting line-up, I wanted to cement my place again," he added.

"But I'm happy with the performance, the boys have done well today. We got the first goal that we wanted and I think we sat a little bit back allowing them to come at us but I was happy that we didn't concede in the first-half.

"And in the second half we came back and got the second one which cemented the game."
