Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane says the versatile Asavela Mbekile is the best right-back in the country.

Mbekile has featured fairly often in that position for the Brazilians but prefers to play as a holding midfielder, where his tenacity in that role at Chippa United earned him a move to Moroka Swallows and then Sundowns

Mosimane has been utilising Thapelo Morena and Anele Ngcongca at right full-back but suggested that if Mbekile put his mind to it, he could hold down that position.

"I believe Mbekile is the best right-back in the country. I'm not lying. Mbekile. I think he is the best right-back but he is not happy to play right-back. He doesn't want to play right-back for us," Mosimane was quoted saying by IOL website.

"It is the same as Rama (Ramahlwe Mphahlele). I think he is a centre-back rather than a right-back and I used him at centre-back."

The 30-year-old Mbekile has featured in only one match this season (in the CAF Champions League), while last season he was involved in only 10 league matches.
