Cape Town - Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo admits there's a real sense of optimism surrounding the squad ahead of their CAF Champions League tie against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

The Students travel to the El-Salam Stadium on Saturday to face the most successful side on the continent in the Round of 32 encounter for a place in the group stage of the competition.

With the prospect of facing the Red Devils, who've won the competition a record eight times, the influential midfielder admits they will look towards some of the experienced members of the squad who've already faced against Hossam El-Badry's side.

"We have players who have been in the game for some time; players who have faced Al Ahly before - the likes of Daine Klate, Moeneeb Josephs and Sifiso Myeni," he told IOL.

"They have been there. They make everyone's job easier. They have shared their experiences with all of us.

"It will be a good experience to go to Al Ahly and I am sure whoever will be left behind will be disappointed."

The second-leg first-round tie against the Champions of Egypt, will be played on 18th of March at the Bidvest Stadium.

Kick off is at 18:30 (SA time).
