New Kaizer Chiefs Head of Technical and Youth development Molefi Ntseki has backed Stuart Baxter to lead the DStv Premiership club back to the pinnacle of South African soccer.

While Amakhosi finished second in the 2019/20 campaign under Ernst Middendorp, they only managed an eighth-place finish this term under the recently departed Gavin Hunt.

Baxter was the last coach to claim top honours with Chiefs, as he won the league twice as well as the Nedbank Cup and MTN8.

Ntseki said, as quoted by IOL: "He is very detailed to the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

"He is good in terms of man-management skills, and I think it's a good addition to the club when you consider his achievements and experience. I'm looking forward to working with him to bring back the glory days.

"He previously coached the club between 2012-15; the club experienced dry seasons of not winning anything. After he arrived, he turned things around, and we are hopeful that things will turn around and the glory days will come back.

"From my interactions with him, he is excited."
