Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns right-back Anele Ngcongca has revealed he still has aspirations of playing for Bafana Bafana under whichever coach the South African Football Association appoint.

The strong and consistent defender has returned to full match fitness, after initially struggling with a knee injury upon signing for the Brazilians at the start of the season.

He recently made his Premiership debut in a 6-0 demolition of Orlando Pirates, and then played in the 1-1 draw with Chippa United soon afterwards.

As such, the 29-year-old has revealed he still harbours hopes of making an impact for the national team. He told the Sowetan, "I want to work my way back into the national team. I have to catch up and try to play as much as I can (at club level).

"It's always great to play for the national team. As a kid I dreamt of playing for the national team, so I can't just throw in the towel.

"Hopefully, the new coach that comes in will be alert about the players who are doing well in the league."
